The Italian ambassador to Germany, Mr. Pietro Benassi, yesterday traveled to the honorary consulate in Bremen as well as the space technology company OHB, which is managed by honorary consul Marco Fuchs, as part of his inaugural visit.
After a tour of the satellite production hall, the ambassador addressed Bremen’s Italian community who had gathered at OHB.
Accompanied by consul general Flavio Rodilosso and honorary consul Marco Fuchs, Ambassador Benassi visited the Bremen town hall at midday, where he was received by the mayor Dr. Carsten Sieling. In the afternoon, he signed the Golden Book of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
Prior to visiting the honorary consulate and OHB, Mr. Benassi engaged in talks with the chamber of commerce and at Bremen’s parliament.
Bremen and Italy
The links between Bremen and Italy can look back on a long history. Indeed, the first Italian consulate in Bremen was established in 1869. Since then, there have been close and long-standing relations between Italy and Bremen. In Bremen, Società Dante Alighieri – Deutsch-Italienische Gesellschaft Bremen e.V. is dedicated to furthering the cultural ties between Germany and Italy
