OHB SE at the ILA Berlin Air Show

Bremen, May 31, 2016. The space and technology group OHB SE (Prime Standard, ISIN DE0005936124) presents itself with almost 300 m2 of floor space at its stand at the ILA Berlin Air Show. The OHB SE group of companies presents its expertise in the two business units, Space Systems and Aerospace & Industrial Products.

The latest aerospace innovations will be on display at the ExpoCenter Airport in Schönefeld from June 1 through 4, 2016. In Hall 4, Stand 201, the OHB Group displays its exhibits spread across seven theme islands from the fields of Human Space Flight, Defense and Security, Earth Observation, Exploration and Science, Navigation, Technology as well as independent access to outer space.

The theme island Navigation, e.g., includes a model of a Galileo-FOC* satellite for the European satellite navigation system. Two Galileo-FOC* satellites developed and built by OHB System AG were successfully launched on May 24, 2016 with a Sojus launcher. The company was contracted for a total of 22 FOC satellites; ten of which are already in orbit.

In addition, OHB displays a model of the communications satellite “Electra”. OHB obtained a contract award from SES and ESA for the development of the satellite platform in March. “Electra” is based on the modular SmallGEO satellite platform developed by OHB as part of ESA’s ARTES 11 program. It will also be employed in the satellite missions Hispasat 36-W-1, EDRS-C and Heinrich Hertz.

OHB System AG in Bremen and Oberpfaffenhofen are jointly working on the development and realization of the latest generation of weather satellites called Meteosat Third Generation (MTG). OHB presents a model of an MTG weather satellite on the island for Earth Observation.

The Milan-based subsidiary OHB CGS presents itself as a systems house for small satellites, scientific payloads and ground segments for space missions. The central exhibition piece is a model of the Earth Observation satellite PRISMA.

The Augsburg-based subsidiary MT Aerospace, Germany’s largest component supplier to the Ariane program and specialized in aerospace structures, presents its core skills and expertise in the development and manufacture of structures, tanks and various hardware for aerospace. In addition, the company displays its system capabilities in the field of aerial and mechatronics production.

Furthermore, the OHB Group presents other exciting space projects such as a model of the Dream Chaser Cargo System developed by OHB partner company Sierra Nevada Corporation; OHB is carrying out a study on the European deployment of the Dream Chaser known as “DC4EU”.

The unmanned Mars Mission ExoMars 2020 includes obtaining samples of Martian rock from depths down to 2 m below the surface. These samples will be crushed by the Sample Preparation and Distribution System within the ExoMars Rover and then made available for different analytical processes. An engineering model of the chain of mechanisms required for the preparation and distribution of the samples is also on display at the OHB stand. OHB contributed to the ExoMars mission 2016 launched earlier this year with the TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter) core module.

We would be happy to welcome you at our ILA stand in Hall 4, Stand 201. If you like you could also drop by for the OHB cocktail reception at our stand on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at 3 p.m.
